What we collect and why
- Contact details (name, email, phone) — to respond to enquiries, send quotes and manage your booking.
- Addresses and move details — to price, plan and carry out your move.
- Inventory lists and photos — to prepare and document your move and handle any claims.
- Signatures — to record quote acceptance and proof of pickup/delivery.
- Payment records — to process deposits and balances (card details are handled by PayFast, never by us).
- Crew vehicle location during your move — so you can track your delivery. Tracking stops when the job completes.
- Messages you send us in the app — to support you.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run this platform: Railway (hosting), Resend (email delivery) and PayFast (payments). They process data on our instructions. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Move records (quotes, invoices, signatures) are kept as long as required for tax and legal purposes. Vehicle location points are operational data retained only for service history. You may ask us to delete data we no longer need.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to processing or complain to the Information Regulator. Email admin@carefulmovers.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted by role, and we keep backups to protect against loss. If a breach ever puts your information at risk we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by law.
